Karl Wilhelm Ferdinand von Tresckow (born October 23, 1788 in Breslau , † August 30, 1874 in Neisse ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

His grandfather Joachim Christian von Tresckow was already lieutenant general under King Friedrich II. Wilhelm was a son of the Lord Mayor of Breslau Friedrich Heinrich von Tresckow (1752-1804) and his wife Elisabeth, née von Wostrowsky (1757-1831).

Military career

Tresckow came on 1 February 1803 as Corporal Corporal in the Infantry Regiment "Prince Hohenlohe" the Prussian army and became the beginning of October 1805 Ensign . In the Fourth Coalition War he was captured in the Battle of Jena and retired from military service as a second lieutenant on June 11, 1811 after the war .

In the run-up to the Wars of Liberation , Tresckow was re-employed on April 11, 1813 as a secondary lieutenant in the Guard Volunteer Cossack Squadron and in mid-September 1813 was aggregated into the East Prussian Cuirassier Regiment . He fought in the battles at Großgörschen , Dresden , Kulm , Leipzig , Laon and Paris as well as in the battles at Etoges, Gue a Creme, Sezanne, Claye and the siege of Luxembourg .

On March 29, 1815 he was transferred to the 1st Cuirassier Regiment . By mid-July 1818 Tresckow rose to Rittmeister and squadron chief . On June 16, 1832 he was promoted to major and on the occasion of the Kalisch revue he was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir II. Class in mid-September 1835 . On March 26, 1841 he was commissioned with the leadership of the 1st Cuirassier Regiment, promoted Tresckow to lieutenant colonel on September 12, 1741 and at the same time appointed him regimental commander. In this position he received the Commander's Cross of the House Order of the White Falcon on December 1, 1842 . On March 30, 1844 he was promoted to colonel and on March 18, 1848 Tresckow came to Neisse as commander of the 12th Cavalry Brigade , and on March 18, 1848 he was aggregated to the 1st Cuirassier Regiment. On April 4, 1850 he got his promotion to major general and on January 4, 1853 the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves. On May 11, 1854, he took his leave and retired and was given the character of Lieutenant General . He died on August 30, 1874 in Neisse.

In his assessment from December 1847 it says: “A commander from the front, as one can only wish for. A good rider himself, he exercises with confidence and elegance and enjoys the full applause of his superiors at every visit. At this occasion I am happy to remember the last King's Review and the praise repeatedly expressed against me by the Prince of Prussia. The regiment is also in excellent condition. The clothing leaves nothing to be desired. Decent, domestic in his circumstances and strictly official. "

Tresckow married on July 15, 1811 in Schrabendorf Henriette von Stoessel (1783-1824) from the house of Gläsersdorf. The couple had several children:
