Willie James Gault (born September 5, 1960 in Griffin , Georgia ) is a retired American sprinter , hurdler and American football player. After his athletics career , he played eleven years American football in the National Football League (NFL) and won with the Chicago Bears to the Super Bowl XX .

In 1980 he was part of the US Olympic team, but could not start because his country boycotted the Games in Moscow . At the alternatively held Liberty Bell Classic , he won bronze over 100 meters . In 1982 he became the US champion in the 110-meter hurdles .

In 1983 he won silver at the Universiade and bronze at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki over 110 m hurdles . In the 4 x 100 meter relay of the World Championships, the US team made up of Emmit King , Gault, Calvin Smith and Carl Lewis set a world record with 37.86 seconds .

He then played American football on the position of the wide receiver . He played from 1983 to 1987 with the Chicago Bears and from 1988 to 1993 with the Los Angeles Raiders in the National Football League (NFL). With the Bears, he won Super Bowl XX against the New England Patriots .

Willie Gault is now active as a film actor , but continues to be active as an age-class athlete. He holds the M45 world records over 100 meters (10.72 s), 200 meters (21.80 s) and 110 meter hurdles (14.41 s).
