Wintersdorf ( Luxembourgish Wanschdrëf ) is a district and a district of the local community Ralingen in the district of Trier-Saarburg in Rhineland-Palatinate .

geography

Wintersdorf is located on the Sauer directly on the border with Luxembourg . The federal road 418 runs through the village . history

The first secure documentary mention of the place under the name Winteronis villa ( Uuinteronsis uillam ) dates from August 20, 953, when King Otto I confirmed a number of named goods to the St. Irminen ( Oeren ) monastery in Trier .

Wintersdorf belonged to the Luxembourg dominion of Rosport until the end of the 18th century .

After 1792 French revolutionary troops occupied the Austrian Netherlands , to which the Duchy of Luxembourg belonged, and annexed it in October 1795 . From 1795 to 1814 the place belonged to the French canton Echternach in the department of forests .

In 1815, the former Luxembourg area east of the Sauer and Our was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . With this, the municipality of Wintersdorf came to the district of Trier in the administrative district of Trier in the province of Grand Duchy of Lower Rhine in 1816 , which in 1822 became part of the Rhine province. The municipality of Wintersdorf was subordinated to the Ralingen mayor .

In 1915 Winterdorf was connected to the railway network. However, this railway line was closed in 1968. Today the Sauertal Cycle Path is located on the former route .

After the Second World War , Wintersdorf became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate within the French occupation zone .

On March 17, 1974, the four previously independent communities Edingen , Kersch , Olk and Wintersdorf were incorporated into Ralingen .
