Vitaly Vishnevskiy ( Russian Виталий Викторович Вишневский , Ukrainian Віталій Вікторович Вишневський / Vitaly Wiktorowytsch Wyschnewskyj * 18th March 1980 in Kharkiv , Ukrainian SSR ) is a former Ukrainian hockey player with a Russian passport. In the National Hockey League he played a total of 592 games for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim , Atlanta Thrashers , Nashville Predators and New Jersey Devils . In the Continental Hockey League he was active for Lokomotive Yaroslavl , the SKA Saint Petersburg and Severstal Tscherepowez .

Career

Vitaly Wischnewski began his career as an ice hockey player with Torpedo Yaroslavl , for which he was active from 1995 to 1999. During this period he was selected in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft as the fifth player by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim .

At the Ducks he was used regularly in the National Hockey League until 2004 and was only subject to the New Jersey Devils in the 2002/03 season in the final games of the Stanley Cup . During the lockout in the 2004/05 NHL season Vishnevsky went back to Russia to play for Chimik Voskressensk in the Super League . After the end of the lockout, the left shooter ran again for the Mighty Ducks, but was transferred to the Atlanta Thrashers shortly before the start of the next season . But for Atlanta he did not even play a full season, as he was given on February 10 in exchange for Éric Bélanger to their league rivals Nashville Predators .

In the summer of 2007 he signed a contract with the New Jersey Devils , for which he scored seven points scorer in 69 games. For the 2008/09 season , the Russian international returned to Lokomotive Yaroslavl, for which he scored 30 points in the newly established Continental Hockey League in a total of 72 games. With his team he reached the finals of the Russian championship, but failed with Yaroslavl in the best-of-seven series with 3: 4 wins at Ak Bars Kazan . For the 2010/11 season Vishnevsky signed with SKA Saint Petersburg , for which he played until 2012 and completed over 128 KHL games.

In May 2012 he returned to Lokomotive Yaroslavl again and played there until the end of the 2014/15 season. In September 2015 he took part in the Anaheim Ducks training camp, but could not recommend himself for a contract. He did not actively play ice hockey for the next two years.

After the 2017/18 season, which he spent at Severstal Tscherepowez , he finally ended his career.
