Wolfgang Langkau

Wolfgang Karl Johannes Reinhold Langkau (born June 21, 1903 in Berlin-Schöneberg ; † May 1991 in Munich ) was a German officer, most recently in the rank of major general in the reserve of the Bundeswehr and a member of the Federal Intelligence Service .

Langkau joined the 3rd Artillery Regiment as a gunner in 1921 . In 1922/23 he attended the war school in Munich and in 1923/24 the weapons school in Jüterbog . From 1924 to 1926 he was a battery officer, and later a training officer. In 1927/28 he was a battery officer in the Sagan artillery department. In 1928 he became an orderly officer and in 1931 adjutant in the 3rd Artillery Regiment. From 1934 he was battery manager . From 1934 to 1936 he was battery chief in Artillery Regiment 28 in Ohlau .

Wehrmacht

In 1936 he came to Jüterbog as a teacher at the artillery school. In 1939/40 he was battery chief of the heavy battery 810. In 1940 he was commander of the heavy artillery division 900 (April to June) and section commander of Le Havre (July to August). From August to October 1940 he was the artillery general's agent . Then he came to the foreign / defense office . From 1941 to 1943 he was General of the Artillery. From October to November 1943 he completed a course at the Artillery School II. From 1943 to 1945 he was commander of the 103rd Panzer Artillery Regiment. From February to April 1945 he was group leader at the Artillery General Inspector until he was taken prisoner in the United States in May 1945 from which he was released in December 1945.

Post-war period and Federal Intelligence Service

In 1946/47 he worked as a worker and employee. In 1947 he worked in the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior in Munich. In 1950 Langkau worked for the Schwerin office . After its dissolution, he was one of the few, including Gerhard Buss, Axel von dem Bussche , Johann Adolf Graf von Kielmansegg and Achim Oster, to be taken over into the Blank office. In 1955 he was Head of Division II 1/4 "Documentation and Military Security " , headed by Oster, Head of Division II 1/4 (2) "Evaluation".

1957 changed Langkau the Federal Intelligence Service and became a sub- department head . His service name was "Langendorf". Internally, he was also designated with the number 273. In 1963 he retired.

Private

Langkau was born in his parents' apartment at 4 Wartburgstrasse. His father was the court assessor Dr. jur. Johannes Langkau. He was married and had three children.
