Wolfgang Rumpf (politician)
Wolfgang Rumpf (born December 29, 1936 in Pirmasens , † December 10, 2006 in Riesweiler ) was a German forester and politician ( FDP ).
Life and work
After graduating from the humanistic grammar school in Pirmasens , Rumpf began studying forest sciences in Göttingen , Munich , Freiburg im Breisgau and Vienna , which he completed with the examination to become a qualified forest manager. With the subject of social burdens on forestry enterprises in the EEC , he was awarded a Dr. forest. PhD at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . From 1966 to 1971 he worked as a lecturer at the Landesforstschule in Trippstadt and from 1971 to 1981 as head of the forestry office in Simmern / Hunsrück . In 1975 he was given a teaching position at the Rhineland-Palatinate University of Applied Sciences . There he taught the environmental protection course in the agricultural department at the Bingen University of Applied Sciences . In addition, since 1984 he has been deputy chairman of the Forest in Need Foundation . From 1981 to 1990 he was a member of the Advisory Board of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation .
Rumpf was married and had two children. His son Ekkehard was 2001-2004 member of the Hamburg Parliament for the FDP.
Political party
Rumpf joined the FDP in 1956 . He was chairman of the FDP association Pirmasens from 1968 to 1971 and was elected chairman of the FDP association Rhein-Hunsrück in 1977. In addition, he had been deputy chairman of the FDP district Eifel - Hunsrück since 1972 , was a member of the state executive committee of the FDP Rhineland-Palatinate and was chairman of the state main committee of the liberals from 1981 to 1989.
MP
Rumpf was from 1964 to 1971 council member of the city of Pirmasens and from 1974 to 1977 council member of the city of Simmern . In 1974 he was elected to the district assembly of the Rhein-Hunsrück district , where in 1979 he took over the chairmanship of the FDP parliamentary group. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1980 until his resignation on August 6, 1987. He was always drawn into parliament via the Rhineland-Palatinate state list. During his time as a member of the Bundestag, he dealt primarily with European and environmental policy. In addition, he devoted himself to development issues and advocated an international solution in Namibia .
Public offices
Rumpf was State Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Viticulture and Forests of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate from 1987 to 1991 . From 1991 to 1994 he was State Secretary for European Affairs in the Ministry for Federal and European Affairs of the State Representation of Rhineland-Palatinate in Bonn and Brussels . After leaving the state government, he took over the office of special commissioner of the Prime Minister for the partner regions of Rhineland-Palatinate from 1996 to 2001.
