Neuhausen is the smallest district in terms of area , but the most populous district of the independent city of Worms . Founded in 847, Neuhausen was incorporated as the first district on April 1, 1898.
geography
Neuhausen is located immediately northwest of the city center of Worms. Around the old village center , once bounded by the Pfrimm , the first half of the 20th century brought rapid expansion of the district to the west of Worms main station . The new housing estate Nordend was later built in the north of Neuhausen .
In the east , the Neuhausen district extends to the railway line , while the Neuhausen district even extends beyond the railway line. In the south and west, but especially in the north of Neuhausen, the district boundary goes far beyond the district boundary. With only 93 ha, the area of Neuhausen is a lot smaller than the area of the Neuhausen district (approx. 185 ha).
history
The place emerged from the Cyriakus monastery founded in 847 and shares its rich history.
Before its incorporation in 1898, the place had 2,460 inhabitants and is therefore the Worms district that has seen the highest increase in population since its incorporation.

Local advisory board
A local district was formed in 1987 for the Worms-Neuhausen district . The local council consists of 15 members, the chair of the local council is chaired by the directly elected mayor .

Mayor
Mayor is Uwe Merz (SPD). In the runoff election on June 16, 2019, he was able to prevail with a share of 67.8% of the vote, after none of the original four candidates had achieved the necessary majority in the local election on May 26, 2019 .
The townscape of Neuhausen
The rapid increase in population meant that today a large number of apartment blocks characterize the once village-like appearance of Neuhausen. Many of them were built in the 1920s and were built for the railroad workers employed in Worms.
In addition to the large apartment blocks, the numerous new housing estates also characterize the Neuhausen townscape. The largest settlement in Neuhausen is the Nordendsiedlung with its single and multi-family houses.
Attractions
Neuhausen offers several sights, most of which and most famous are located in the historic center of the district.
The sights include u. a. the Evangelical Church from 1906/07 with its Roman fountain, the modern Catholic St. Amandus Church from 1952 and the former Cyriakus Chapel in the center of Neuhaus, which is now used as a residential building.
Another attraction is the war memorial, which shows a bronze warrior statue with a shield on a base. The base bears the inscription "God Fatherland Ehre Treue".
