The Vysschaya League 1987 was the 50th season of the highest Soviet football league. It started on March 9th and ended on November 15th, 1987.

Spartak Moscow won the Soviet football championship for the eleventh time with three points ahead of Dnieper Dnepropetrovsk. The two newcomers took the last two places and got down again.
