Xenija Olegowna Makarova ( Russian Ксения Олеговна Макарова , English transcription Kseniya Makarova ) (born December 20, 1992 in Saint Petersburg ) is a Russian figure skater who competes in a single run .
She is the daughter of the former European pair skating champions Larissa Selesnjowa and Oleg Makarov . At the age of six Makarova began to practice figure skating. She started briefly as a teenager for the USA and from 2007 for Russia. However, it still lives in Newburgh in the US state of New York . Her parents emigrated with her from Russia when she was eight years old. Xenija Makarowa trains in Hackensack ( New Jersey ) and also in Saint Petersburg.
In 2010 Xenija Makarova became Russian champion and made her debut at the major international championships. She was ninth at the European Championships , eighth at the World Championships and tenth at the Vancouver Winter Olympics .
In 2011 it was enough for Makarova only to fifth place in the national championships. At the European Championships , however, she improved compared to the previous year and took fourth place. She also managed to improve at the World Cup , where she finished seventh in front of a home crowd.
