The Xinqiang He River ( Chinese  新 牆 河  /  新 墙 河 , Pinyin Xīnqiáng Hé ) in northeast Hunan is a tributary of the Dongting Lake , which in turn flows into the Yangtze River . Its mouth into the lake is in Yueyang County .

In September 2006, the river was poisoned with arsenic in a chemical accident . This has jeopardized the drinking water supply of 80,000 people in Yueyang County .
