Jura Mowsisjan , as a US citizen Yura Movsisyan ( Armenian Յուրա Մովսիսյան , Russian Юра Сергеевич Мовсисян Jura Sergejewitsch Mowsisjan ; born August 2, 1987 in Baku , Azerbaijani SSR , Soviet Union ) is an Armenian football player who is also a citizen of the Armenians owns.
Club career
Jura Mowsisjan came to the USA in 2001 or 2002 as a child of asylum seekers at the age of fourteen . His family settled in southern California . He first played soccer at his school, Pasadena High School. He later played college soccer at Pasadena City College. He was discovered by MLS scouts and signed a generation Adidas contract. He was accepted by Kansas City Wizards and played there until 2007. Then he moved to Real Salt Lake . There he played for two years until he moved to Denmark in the Superliga to Randers FC in 2010 . On January 26, 2011, he was sold to the Russian promoted FK Krasnodar for 2.5 million US dollars . In December 2012, the striker moved to league rivals Spartak Moscow . In 2017, he was finally brought back from Real Salt Lake for 3 million euros after a previous loan. In his second time in Utah he scored 16 goals in 58 games, a goal rate similar to that between 2007 and 2009. In 2018 Movsisiyan played on loan in Sweden at Djurgårdens IF . In September 2018 he moved back to the MLS, to Chicago Fire, after a brief period of absence . There he played four league games by the end of the season and has been without a club again since January 2019.
National team
His first goal was to play for the US national soccer team . He later opted for the Armenian and made his debut on August 11, 2010 in a friendly against Iran . In qualifying for the European Football Championship 2012 , he scored three goals in four games. In the 2018/19 UEFA Nations League , Movsisyan scored four goals in a 6-2 win in Gibraltar .
