Zəlimxan Hüseynov
Zəlimxan Hüseynov ( Russian Зелимхан Хусейнов ; * July 13, 1981 ) is a Russian or Azerbaijani wrestler . He was runner-up in the world champion and European featherweight champion in free style in 2009 .
Career
Zəlimxan Hüseynov comes from Dagestan , where he started wrestling as a teenager. At the beginning of his career he started for Russia . He concentrated entirely on the free style and wrestles at a height of 1.69 meters in featherweight (weight limit 60 kg). He was trained by Tezhdi Chusseinow and Firdausi Umudow.
In 2001 Zəlimxan Hüseynov became Russian junior champion and then started at the junior world championship (Juniors = age group up to 20 years of age) in Tashkent . He finished there in bantamweight behind Ulan Nadirbek Uulu from Kyrgyzstan and Nejad Haghi Mohammad from Iran in 3rd place. Somewhat surprisingly, it was used by the Russian Wrestling Association at the World Seniors Championships 2001 in Sofia . He came there in bantamweight victories over Martin Berberjan from Armenia and Sunil Kumar from India . In his third fight, however, he lost to David Pogosjan from Georgia , with which he was eliminated and only finished 8th.
In the following years, Zəlimxan Hüseynov no longer managed to qualify for participation in international championships in Russia. But he still started at some major international tournaments and achieved good results there.
In 2008, Zəlimxan Hüseynov therefore decided to change his nationality and start for Azerbaijan . He therefore joined the Ataspor Baku sports club . In 2008 he managed to qualify for the qualification tournament in Martigny / Switzerland with a 2nd place in featherweight behind Vasyl Fedoryschyn from the Ukraine for the participation in the Olympic Games in Beijing . At the Olympic tournament in Beijing he lost his first fight against Russian favorite Mawlet Batirow , then won in the consolation round over Yandro Quintana from Cuba , but lost his fight for an Olympic bronze medal against Morad Mohammadi from Iran. He took 5th place in the final bill.
In 2009 he won first at a strong World Cup tournament in Tehran in the featherweight before Evgeni Chawilow from Ukraine and the bantamweight Olympic champion from 2008 Bessik Kuduchow from Russia. With a lot of self-confidence he then went to the European Championship in Vilnius . With victories over Alexandros Pilaridis, Greece , George Bucur , Romania , Malchaz Kurdjani from Georgia and Adam Batirow , who started again for Russia after a few years for Belarus , he proved that this self-confidence was right and was considered European featherweight champion.
At the 2009 World Championships in Herning / Denmark he won featherweight over Vitali Korjakin from Tajikistan , Artur Arakeljan from Armenia , Shogo Maeda , Japan and Dilshod Mansurov from Uzbekistan . In the final he was defeated by Bessik Kuduchow, whom he had defeated in Tehran, and thus finished 2nd.
