A high point of his career was the role of editor-in-chief in Andrzej Wajdas Without Anesthesia (1978). In the 1980s he became a popular performer - not least through his appearance in Krzysztof Kieślowski's A Short Film About Killing (1987) - and received numerous awards for his work on stage as well as in film and television, including the Polish State Prize in 1980 .
