The goat club is 405.8 m above sea level. NHN high north-east foothills of the Stolzhäuser Ridge in the Stölzinger Mountains , a low mountain range of the East Hessian mountains . It is located near Waldkappel in the Werra-Meißner district in northern Hesse .
The elevation is not to be confused with the goat trumpet in the Stölzinger Mountains , located 4.7 km (as the crow flies ) south of Thurnhosbach .

The goat rises in the northeast part of northern Hesse in the Fulda-Werra-Bergland in the geo-nature park Frau-Holle-Land (Werra Valley, Meissner, Kaufunger Forest) . Its summit lies between Harmuthsachsen in the north, the core town of Waldkappel in the east, Mäckelsdorf in the south-southwest and Wollstein (monastery near Waldkappel-Harmuthsachsen) in the west.
Parts of the fauna-flora-habitat area Werra- und Wehretal (FFH-Nr. 4825-302; 244.8191 km² ) are located on the wooded goat's peg .
The stream Im Hohl flows northwest of the Ziegenküppel as a southwest tributary of the weir , which runs north of the elevation along the federal road 7 through Harmuthsachsen and into which the Schemmerbach flows in the eastern Waldkappel . South of the survey flows through the baiting passing through Mäckelsdorf and opens a little further in the southeast Schemmerbach.
Natural allocation
The goat club belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Osthessisches Bergland (No. 35), in the main unit Fulda-Werra-Bergland (357) and in the subunit Stölzinger Bergland ( Stölzinger Gebirge ) (357.4) to the natural area Stolzhäuser Back (357.41). Its landscape falls to the south and southeast into the natural area Schemmerbachgrund (357.32), which belongs to the subunit Sontraer Hügelland (357.3), and to the northeast and north into the natural area Waldkappeler Wehretal (357.54), which belongs to the subunit Witzenhausen-Altmorschener Talung (357.5) heard.
Traffic and walking
North-east past the Ziegenküppel leads between Harmuthsachsen and Waldkappel down along the weirs the federal road 7 . The district road 33 runs parallel to the B 7 between the two villages , and in Waldkappel it meets the state road 3226 that branches off from the B 7 . The latter leads southeast past the elevation upwards along the Schemmerbach to Friemen. In the past, the Leinefelde – Treysa line ran roughly parallel to this road as a section of the Kanonenbahn . The Hessenweg 8 , the hiking trail of the German Unity and the Barbarossaweg (marked there with the sign "X8") lead over the Ziegenküppel .
