final
The pairing in the 34th Austrian Cup final between Rapid and Sport-Club was a duel between two equal teams, while the Dornbachers finished the season in second, the Hütteldorfer were third in the league. However, there was unrest at the sports club insofar as coach Hans Pesser was dismissed just five days before the final, a 2-2 in Leoben and thus the end of the championship dreams was to blame. The first half belonged to the black and whites, but Herzog (14th, 21st) and Buzek (18th) failed either to Rapid goalie Fuchsbichler or the pole. After Buzek headed off again after the restart (48th), the initiative passed to Rapid, top scorer Bjerregaard was served once by Kaltenbrunner and Grausam and sent both times safely (53rd, 86th). Cruelly failed in the meantime with a slat commuter (55th), Bjerregaard forgave another time just above (60th). One minute before the end, Buzek was ultimately successful with his head, but could only improve the end result.
