The Eastern Zwillingsköpfl ( Italian Testa Gemella Orientale ) is a rugged rocky mountain in the Reichenspitz group , a mountain group in the Zillertal Alps . Its summit is at 2841 m and lies on the border between the Austrian state of Salzburg and the Italian province of South Tyrol , which here coincides with the border between the Hohe Tauern National Park and the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park .
Location and surroundings
The eastern Zwillingsköpfl is located on the eastern Zillertal main ridge , which runs roughly from east to west and describes a northern bulge here. Following the ridge to the west, you reach the western Zwillingsköpfl , only about 350 m away , the 2835 m high northernmost point of Italy , and via the Klockerkarkopf and the Pfaffenscheidkopf the Krimmler Tauern . To the east is via the Steinkarspitze to Birnlücke . To the north the area slopes down to the upper Krimmler Achental , to the south to the Ahrntal .
Alpinism
The Krimmler Tauernhaus and the Birnlückenhütte on the Lausitzer Weg are both the starting point for an ascent of the Eastern Zwillingsköpfl .
