history

The Rotterfundtgrub on the Breiten Berg was first mentioned in writing in 1557 and 1558. It is assumed that the mine of the same name was built around 1520. Mining came to a standstill during the Thirty Years' War. After the Battle of White Mountain , the area belonged to Adam Herzan von Harras . In 1652 the mine was bought by the Saxon entrepreneur August Rothe and from 1682 it belonged to Ferdinand Wilhelm von Lobkowicz on Eisenberg and Neundorf. In 1685 iron ore mining was resumed and a mining settlement was established. The ore was processed in the Karolinental, where there was also a blast furnace. The Rothe mine was shut down between 1710 and 1711.

A forester's house was built in the middle of the 19th century. In 1930 Rothe Grube had seven residents.
