Kumiko Omura

Kumiko Omura ( Japanese 大村 久 美 子 , Ōmura Kumiko ; * 1970 in Shizuoka Prefecture ) is a Japanese composer . She is one of the leading composers in Japan.

Life

Omura first studied with Isao Matsushita , Kenjirō Urata and Jō Kondō at the Tōkyō Geijutsu Daigaku . She then studied composition with Nicolaus A. Huber and electronic music with Ludger Brümmer and Dirk Reith at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen and at the IRCAM in Paris and Intermedia Art (Master) with Kiyoshi Furukawa at the Tōkyō Geijutsu Daigaku. Your music has been performed in Japan, Korea, USA and Europe (including: Witten Days for New Chamber Music , Musica Viva in Germany, Festival AGORA , Festival Acanthe in France, Gaudeamus Music Week in Holland, Emufest in Italy, Bludenzer Days of Contemporary Music in Austria and Music From Japan in New York). Performers include New Japan Philharmonic , Ensemble Modern , musikFabrik , Ensemble recherche , Ensemble Resonanz and Nieuw Ensemble . From 2006 to 2010 she was a guest artist at the Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe. From 2010 to 2011 she was “composer in residence” at Künstlerhof Schreyahn .
