-philia

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nouns with the ending -philie ( ancient Greek φιλία philía , German 'friendship' , from φίλος philos , German 'friend' ) denote a preference or inclination, especially of a person, for a certain type of object or person. The counterpart to “-philia” is “ -phobia ”, i.e. an aversion to the person in question. Both -philias and -phobias can also be names for specific clinical pictures of paraphilia or phobias .
