Starting position

As already announced after the World Cup in Hochfilzen, there was a castling in the German women's team for the last races of the calendar year after the poor performance in the previous week. As head trainer Kristian Mehringer announced, Marion Deigentesch , Janina Hettich and Maren Hammerschmidt joined the team. On the one hand, they replaced Karolin Horchler and Anna Weidel , who both started in the IBU Cup, and Franziska Hildebrand , who did not start due to poor running form.

Johannes Thingnes Bø , who traveled to France as the leader of the overall World Cup, announced that this World Cup would be his last participation in the current season for the time being. Bø becomes a father and wants to be there when his first child is born. That is why the Norwegian planned to skip the World Cup stations in January in Oberhof and Ruhpolding. But he wanted to take part again in the subsequent World Championships in Antholz.
