Adventure Land is a music album by the group Pur that was released on August 21, 1995 by Intercord . With over two million copies, the album is one of the best-selling music albums in Germany .

Creation and publication

Adventure Land was recorded and mixed from March to June 1995 in Leonberg, Nashville, Bissingen and Munich. Dieter Falk acted as producer .

Even before the album was released, the single Ich liebe 'dich (No matter how that sounds) was released on June 19, 1995 . She reached number ten in the German single charts, where she was able to place herself in the charts immediately. It was the group's highest single placement in the German charts. The video for the single was realized by the directing duo DoRo ( Rudi Dolezal and Hannes Rossacher ) for 150,000 marks and was already running regularly on VIVA in the so-called A1 rotation shortly after it was released .

The album Abenteuerland , which was released on August 21, 1995, had more than 492,000 pre-orders. At the time of publication, the group's 1994 previous album, Seiltänzertraum , was still in the charts. Abenteuerland sold over 750,000 copies in the first week and went straight to number 1 in the German album charts. It was the group's eighth studio album as well as the first to top the charts.

From September 1995 Pur went on tour with the new album, giving almost 100 concerts. The tour ended in July 1996; Overall, Pur played in front of around 1.3 million viewers. Following the tour, the album Pur live - The Second , including recordings of the tour, as well as the concert videos Live - The Video for the Adventure Land Tour 1995/1996 (August 1996) and Adventure Land: Live from the Düsseldorf Rheinstadion (November 1996 ) were released in August 1996 ), which both achieved gold status. In March 1996 Jörg Freiburger published the book Pur - Quite normal superstars ; he had accompanied the group during the Adventure Land autumn concerts.

“ To get ' Love me tender, love me sweet, never let me go ' in German, then still be able to look in the mirror and not just on the account, that's almost art. A quintet from Swabia, whose name sounds like a light margarine, has succeeded ”, wrote the Focus with regard to the first single from the album, Ich lieb 'dich (No matter how that sounds) . The Stuttgarter Zeitung described the album as “the usual pure mixture”, criticized individual tracks as being banal and full of “messages capable of consensus” and as “nice and well-set everyday things”. As titles that make you sit up and take notice, however, she emphasized It hurts (about the pain of separation) and In thoughts (about a woman's cancer death).

“All in all, a mishmash of experiences and emotions that provide material for 14 titles. PUR did not dare to experiment with music either, ”says the Saarbrücker Zeitung . The Frankfurter Rundschau criticized the group and the album: “Musically more boring than Genesis, they pretend [pure] lyrical fantasy and are actually only conservative and capable of consensus. [...] German pop music [...] doesn't bring Pur a millimeter further. "

Awards

Abenteuerland has sold over two million copies and achieved 4-times platinum in Germany. The album received a gold record in Austria and platinum in Switzerland. As an album that has sold over a million times, Abenteuerland also received the Platinum Europe Award , the European Music Prize, in July 1996 .
