Abram Efimowitsch Archipow

Abram Arkhipov ( Russian Абрам Ефимович Архипов * August 15 . Jul / 27. August  1862 . Greg in Ryazan Governorate ; † 25. September 1930 in Moscow ) was a Russian - Soviet painter who mainly the landscape painting dedicated.

Life

He grew up in the village of Jegorowo in Ryazan Governorate in a family of small farmers. In the period from 1877 to 1883 and from 1886 to 1888 he studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture . Here he studied under the direction of Wassili Perow , Wassili Polenow , Illarion Prjanischnikow , Alexei Sawrassow and Wladimir Makowski . In addition, he studied during the interruption of this study in the years from 1884 to 1886 at the Petersburg Art Academy . In the second phase of his studies in Moscow, he received a silver medal for the picture Visiting the sick (Посещение больной).

In 1891 Archipov became a member of the Peredvizhniki . In 1886 and 1912 he visited other European countries, including France , Germany and Italy . Since 1912 he traveled frequently to northern Russia. In 1904 he became one of the founders of the Association of Russian Artists .

From 1894 Archipov headed the landscape painting class at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture . In 1898 he received the title of academic. After the October Revolution , he took part in the restructuring of the university. He continued teaching until 1924 . The First Russian Art Exhibition in Berlin in 1922 showed his paintings market , farmer's wife , reading the newspaper . Very recently, from the last war with Poland, his picture Burning Russian Village was on display. AJ Archipow died in Moscow in 1930.

Most of his works are exhibited in the Tretyakov Gallery and a few in the Belarusian Art Museum in Minsk .
