Adolf Gustav Ludwig Wilhelm Kritter , von Kritter since 1878 (born August 14, 1819 in Katlenburg , † May 26, 1892 in Bad Ems ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Adolf was a son of the Hanoverian judicial officer Ludwig Kritter (1771–1829) and his wife Sophie, née von Wedemeyer (1789–1862).

Military career

Kritter attended high school and the division school in Erfurt . After graduating, he joined the 4th Dragoon Regiment of the Prussian Army as a dragoon on August 1, 1836 , and was promoted to secondary lieutenant by mid-October 1838 . He was a regimental adjutant in 1842 and was commanded as adjutant of the 16th division on March 21, 1848 . In this position Kritter rose on January 8, 1852 First Lieutenant on, was on 23 July 1853 as aide to the war minister Eduard von Bonin ordered and on May 5, 1855 Captain transported. On September 18, 1856 he was released from his command and returned to his regular regiment on November 1, 1856 , with the appointment of squadron chief. On February 19, 1859, he joined the General Staff of the VIII Army Corps as a captain . Left in his position, he was aggregated to the General Staff on July 25, 1859 . He returned to the General Staff of the VIII Army Corps on July 31, 1860, was awarded the Order of the Crown of the IV Class in 1862 and was promoted to lieutenant colonel on June 25, 1864 . In the year he was commanded to service the Thuringian Uhlan Regiment No. 6 until October 26, 1865 . Instead Kritter was on 14 December 1865 as commander of Swinoujscie and on April 3, 1866 as a commander in the fortress Glatz added. With a patent from October 30, 1866, he was promoted to colonel on December 31, 1866 .

Towards the end of the war against France , Kritter became the commandant of the Belfort fortress on February 17, 1871 . After the peace treaty he rose to major general in mid-August 1871 and was appointed inspector of the train inspector in Berlin on July 16, 1872 . In this position he was promoted to lieutenant general on November 21, 1876 and on the occasion of the festival in January 1878 he was awarded the star of the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves.
