The Adventhaus Charlottenburg , a community center of the Protestant , free church Seventh-day Adventists , is located at Schloßstraße 6 in the Berlin district of Charlottenburg in the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district . It was built in 1951 based on a design by the architect Friedrich Huebner-Hennig .
history
In 1907 the Charlottenburg Adventist Church was founded. From 1929 to 1945 the services took place in a chapel on Kantstrasse , which was destroyed in the last days of the Second World War. Then they took place in the Peace Church of the Baptists on Bismarckstrasse . On November 2, 1950, the community bought the property at Schloßstraße 6. Here stood a free house that was destroyed in the Second World War and that came from Johann Friedrich Eosander von Göthe . The Chamberlain Friedrich Wilhelm Hassan lived here until 1728 . The sculptor Christian Daniel Rauch used it from 1855 to 1857. A Berlin plaque commemorates both residents .

The financial means for the land purchase and construction came mainly from community members in the USA .
Today, the Advent house is not only used by the German congregation for church services, but also by an English, a Polish, a Portuguese and a Spanish one.
Building description
The building complex at the corner of Schloßstraße 6 and Neue Christstraße, set back from the property fence, has an L-shaped floor plan . The tenement Schloßstraße 5 is a section of the building in a closed construction adjacent. It is covered with a gable roof that is hipped towards Neue Christstraße and is provided with dormer windows. The part of the building that adjoins the neighboring tenement house has four floors . It contains one apartment each from the first to fourth floors and one on the top floor .
Next to it is a four-axle part of the building which, together with the church attached to the courtyard , forms the actual community center. A bay window is placed in front of the two central axes , which is supported by three pillars resting on a pedestal . A flight of stairs leads to this platform, and a two-door portal leads to the anteroom of the community center. In the building axis to the right of the bay window, the staircase leads to the rooms in the basement , to the apartments and to the youth room above the vestibule. The youth room can also be reached via the left stairwell, and the toilets lead from it. Its windows , on the outside of the gable facing Neue Christstraße, are designed in Art Nouveau style and decorate the bare wall below the window of the apartment on the fourth floor, which extends from the right staircase to here.
The church wing has five narrow and high windows on both long sides. It is also covered with a gable roof. Inside there is a hall church , the ceiling of which is partially coffered . The church hall is reached from the anteroom via several steps . There is no fixed altar . Only a simple table stands in front of the retracted apse . Instead of pews there are chairs. There is an organ on a gallery above the entrance area .
