Airton José dos Santos

Airton José dos Santos (born June 25, 1956 in Bom Repouso ) is a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Mariana .

Life

Airton José dos Santos was ordained a priest on December 8, 1985 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Auxiliary Bishop in Santo André and Titular Bishop of Phelbes on December 19, 2001 . The Bishop of Santo André, Décio Pereira , donated him episcopal ordination on March 2nd of the following year ; Co- consecrators were David Picão , former bishop of Santos , and Manuel Parrado Carral , auxiliary bishop in São Paulo . As a motto he chose UT FACIAM DEUS VOLUNTATEM TUAM .

He was appointed Bishop of Mogi das Cruzes on August 4, 2004 and was introduced to the office on September 26 of the same year. He was named Archbishop of Campinas on February 15, 2012 and was introduced to the office on April 15 of the same year.

Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Mariana on April 25, 2018.
