Bruno Gamberini (born July 16, 1950 in Matão , † August 28, 2011 in São Paulo ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Campinas .

Life

Gamberini, the third of five children of Armando Gamberini and Tirso Castellani Gamberini, was baptized and confirmed in the Bom Jesus de Matão Cathedral . After attending the state schools José Inocêncio da Costa and Prof. Henrique Morato in Matão, he studied philosophy at the diocesan seminary in São Carlos from 1968 to 1970 and theology at a branch of the Pontifical Lateran University in Curitiba from 1971 to 1974 . He also studied choral singing and conducting at the Pró-Música de Curitiba . On December 2, 1973, he was ordained a deacon in São Carlos . On 11 December 1974 he received by Bishop Constantino Amstalden in the Cathedral of Bom Jesus de Matão the priesthood . He worked as a priest in São Carlos, and was also Professor of Philosophy (1975–1977) and Dean of the Philosophical Faculty (1991–1995) at the Diocesan Seminary in São Carlos. He was the coordinator of the diocesan pastoral care of the diocese of San Carlos (1978–1979), pastor of Ribeirão Bonito in São Paulo (1979–1981), the first examiner of the Chamber of Judges at the ecclesiastical court of São Carlos (1980–1984) and notary of the court until 1995. From 1982 to 1986 he was rector of the Theological Seminary of São Carlos in Campinas. From 1987 to 1989 he took over the parish in Itajobi and Marapoama. Since 1983 he was a member of the Cathedral Chapter of São Carlos.

On 17 May 1995 he was Pope John Paul II. To the Bishop of Bragança Paulista appointed and received on 16 July 1995 by Constantino Amstalden, Bishop of São Carlos , the episcopal ordination . Co-consecrators were his predecessors in Bragança Paulista, Antônio Pedro Misiara , and the Auxiliary Bishop of São Salvador da Bahia , José Antônio Aparecido Tosi Marques . His motto was the noun domini benedictum ( Portuguese : Bendito o nome do Senhor , Eng . Blessed be the name of the Lord ). He was appointed Archbishop of Campinas on June 2, 2004, and was introduced to the office on August 1 of the same year.

In the South Region of the Roman Catholic Church in Brazil, he was a member of the Commission for Child Pastoral Care (1996), Head Bishop of the Campinas Sub-Region (1999-2003), Member of the Pastoral Council (1999-2003), Member of the Economic Council (2003 ), Bishop of the Pastoral Conference (1998–2009), Bishop of the Pueri Cantores (2005–2009) and member of the Basilica of Our Lady of Aparecida , the most important national Marian shrine in Brazil (2007–2009). He was Grand Chancellor of the Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas .

He died on August 28, 2011 after an illness-related stay in the Pontifical Catholic University Hospital "Celso Pierro" of Campinas of multiple organ failure in the Bandeirantes Hospital in Liberdade near São Paulo.
