The Academic Rowing Club Würzburg (short: ARC Würzburg or ARCW ) is one of the two Würzburg rowing clubs alongside the Würzburger RV Bayern (WRVB) . The club area is located near the Ludwigsbrücke across from the Mainkai .
history
The ARCW was founded in 1905 from circles of the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg as a counterpart to the bourgeois WRVB. He is known for his youth work, for which he was awarded the Green Belt by Commerzbank and DOSB in 1994 and 2012 . The good youth work can also be seen in numerous successes at the German Youth Championships and other regattas throughout Germany . The club has won the Bavarian Lions again and again in recent years, for the club with the most victories at the Bavarian Rowing Championships, most recently in 2019. In the field of school rowing, the ARCW works with the Würzburg schools Röntgen-Gymnasium and Riemenschneider-Gymnasium . In the last few years the Riemenschneider-Gymnasium was able to achieve successes again and again in the state decision of youth trained for the Olympics in Munich. The club colors are green and white. Together with the WRVB and Würzburg Regattaverein directed the ARCW annual bocksbeutel - Regatta from. In the rowing Bundesliga , the ARCW was represented by the Bayernachter in a racing community with the Munich RC. From 2011 to 2013 the ARCW built a new boathouse . In 2018, the ARCW was awarded the Federal President's sports badge by the Bavarian Minister of the Interior and Sports, Joachim Herrmann .
