Acropolis Tournament 2001

The 15th edition of the 2001 Acropolis basketball tournament took place between August 21 and 23, 2001 in the suburb of Marousi of Athens . The six games in total were held in the Olympic Hall .

In addition to the hosting Greek national team , the national teams from Italy and Lithuania also took part. The field of participants completed the national team from Yugoslavia , which only a few weeks later won the gold medal at the European Championships in Turkey .

The stars of the Acropolis Tournament 2001 included the Greek Theodoros Papaloukas, the Yugoslavs Dejan Bodiroga , Marko Jarić , and Peja Stojaković , Denis Marconato from Italy, and Šarūnas Jasikevičius , Ramūnas Šiškauskas and Darius Songaila from Lithuania.

The Italian Gregor Fučka was awarded the title of MVP of the tournament .
