Acropolis Tournament 2004
The 18th edition of the 2004 Acropolis Basketball Tournament took place between July 26th and 28th, 2004 in Athens . As modernization work was being carried out on the Olympic Hall in view of the upcoming Olympic Games , the total of six games took place in the Glyfada sports hall in the south of Athens.
In addition to the hosting Greek national team , the national teams from Brazil and Lithuania also took part. The field of participants completed the later Olympic runner-up Italy .
The stars of the 2004 Acropolis tournament included the Greeks Dimitrios Diamantidis and Theodoros Papaloukas, the Italians Denis Marconato , Leandro Barbosa from Brazil and Šarūnas Jasikevičius , Arvydas Macijauskas , Ramūnas Šiškauskas and Darius Songaila from Lithuania.
The Greek Nikolaos Chatzivrettas was named MVP of the tournament .
