Alan Quine (* 25. February 1993 in Belleville , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who since July 2018 with the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League is under contract and in parallel for their farm team, the Stockton Heat , in the American Hockey League on the position of the center plays.

Career

Quine played for the Kingston Frontenacs , Peterborough Petes and Belleville Bulls in the Ontario Hockey League during his junior years between 2009 and 2013 . First he was a member of the Kingston Frontenacs team, where he completed his rookie season and went into the 2010/11 season before he was transferred to Peterborough. For the Petes, the striker played until mid-January 2013. During this time he was in the third round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft in 85th place by the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League and had at the end of the 2011/12 season made his professional debut with the Grand Rapids Griffins in the American Hockey League .

After Quine had finished the 2012/13 season with title contender Belleville Bulls, he took part again in the NHL Entry Draft , as Detroit had not signed him within two years. In the 2013 NHL Entry Draft , he was finally drawn in the sixth round in 166th position by the New York Islanders . They then signed him and until April 2016 only used him in their farm teams - mainly the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the AHL. In April 2016, just before the end of the regular season , Quine was appointed to New York's NHL squad and made his debut. He remained in the squad for the subsequent play-offs and received a new two-year contract in the summer. In preparation for the 2016/17 game year , the attacker secured a regular place on the Islanders team.

After five years, Quine did not get a new contract in New York after the 2017/18 season, so he joined the Calgary Flames as a free agent in July 2018 .

International

For his homeland, Quine played at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2010 , the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament 2010 and the U18 World Junior Championship in 2011 . He won the silver medal at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge and the gold medal at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament. The Canadians finished fourth in the U18 World Junior Championship. Quine was one of the team's most successful players with seven scorer points in as many tournament games.
