Albrecht Graf von Ingelheim called Echter von und zu Mespelbrunn (born December 22, 1944 at Mespelbrunn Castle ; † December 2, 2006 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German local politician .

family

Albrecht von Ingelheim was the second of six children of Hamann Graf von Ingelheim (1908–1972) and Gertrud geb. Born Freiin von Freyberg-Eisenberg-Allmendingen (1914–2007). The oldest son died shortly after he was born.

He was born in 1970 with Hedwig (* 1944). Married Freiin von Graes- Diepenbrock ; The three daughters Marie Antoinette (* 1973), Delia (* 1974) and Julia (* 1981) emerged from the marriage.

The heiress of the family estate at Mespelbrunn Castle is his eldest daughter Marie Antoinette Countess von Ingelheim, called Echterin von und zu Mespelbrunn - Baroness von Geyr von Schweppenburg .

Life

After graduating from high school in Würzburg, he studied forestry and business administration in Munich and Münster. He then worked as an assistant at the University of Applied Sciences in Speyer before taking over the family business as the living elder after his father's death.

Albrecht von Ingelheim was soon involved in the local politics of the then over-indebted community of Mespelbrunn , whose finances he restructured, of the district of Aschaffenburg and the district of Lower Franconia . He had been a member of the district assembly since 1986. He took over the chairmanship of this body on June 26, 2001 and held this office until his death. He also held the offices of chairman of the University of Würzburg and, from 1978 to 2006, chairman of the history and art association of Aschaffenburg eV

He was also involved in the Ebern master school association for the carpentry trade, in the Franconian Open Air Museum Fladungen association and in the Mainfränkisches Museum Würzburg association as well as in other committees and foundations.

He was also the founding chairman of the administrative association (VG) Mespelbrunn , to which the communities Dammbach, Heimbuchenthal and Mespelbrunn belong.

Since 1978 he sat for the CSU in the district council of the Aschaffenburg district and was mayor of the community and chairman of the administrative community Mespelbrunn from May 1, 1978 to December 31, 2005. He resigned from this honorary position for health reasons.

Honors

In October 2006 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit with ribbon . He was a member of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem and was awarded the communal medal of merit in bronze. After his resignation as mayor, the community of Mespelbrunn granted him honorary citizenship .
