Alyaksandr Sjarhejewitsch Kitarau ( Belarusian Аляксандр Сяргеевіч Кітараў ; Russian Александр Сергеевич Китаров / Alexander Sergeyevich Kitarow * 18th June 1987 in Navapolatsk , Byelorussian SSR ) is a Belarusian ice hockey player who since October 2016 again at the Belarusian club HC Dinamo Minsk of the Continental hockey Liga (KHL) is under contract.
Career
Aljaksandr Kitarau began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Chimik-SKA Nawapolazk , for whose professional team he was active in the Belarusian extra league from 2004 to 2008 . Towards the end of the 2007/08 season , the center moved to HK Junost Minsk , with whom he won the Belarusian championship three times in a row in 2009, 2010 and 2011 . At European level, he won the IIHF Continental Cup with the team in the 2010/11 season . He himself scored the 4-3 winner in the final and decisive group game against defending champions EC Red Bull Salzburg .
For the 2011/12 season Kitarau was signed by HK Dinamo Minsk from the Continental Hockey League and played there until the end of the 2014/15 season. He completed over 180 KHL games in which he collected 34 scorer points. After he had only been a substitute player in his last season at Dinamo, his contract was not extended after the end of the season and Kitarau moved within the KHL to Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk . For Neftechimik he completed a total of 62 KHL games by mid-October 2016 before returning to Dinamo Minsk in exchange for compensation.
International
For Belarus , Kitarau took part in the junior division in the U18 Junior B World Championship 2005 and the U20 Junior B World Championship in 2006 . In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the 2011 World Cup .
