Ludwig Leopold Adolf Alexander von Stahr (born July 3, 1813 in Reichenstein , † August 16, 1882 in Schweidnitz ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

Alexander was a son of the Prussian captain Karl Adolf von Stahr (1744-1815) and his wife Henriette Auguste, née Lührmann (1778-1845). His father was the commandant of Ottmachau and later a stable master at the Knight Academy in Liegnitz . The Prussian Lieutenant General August von Stahr (1807-1878) was his older brother.

Military career

Stahr joined the 22nd Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army as a musketeer in 1830 and was promoted to secondary lieutenant by mid-September 1832 . From 1838 to 1846 he was a teacher in the division school of the 12th Division and then as a company commander in the 1st Battalion in the 22nd Landwehr Regiment. In mid-June 1848 he was promoted to prime lieutenant , was commanded from July 8 to August 9, 1848 as an adjutant of the 9th Landwehr Brigade and then in the same capacity of the 9th Infantry Brigade in Glogau . After his return to his regular regiment, Stahr rose as a captain to company commander in mid-November 1852 . This was followed by his promotion to major on February 3, 1857, he was appointed commander of the III. Battalions in the 7th Landwehr Regiment. On May 8, 1860, he was commanded as a battalion leader in the 7th Combined Infantry Regiment, from which the 2nd Lower Silesian Infantry Regiment 47 emerged on July 1, 1860 . On this date, Stahr received command of the fusilier battalion in Löwenberg . On June 24, 1862 he was transferred to Halle (Saale) as commander of the 2nd battalion in the Magdeburg Fusilier Regiment No. 36 . In this capacity, Stahr was promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 17, 1863 and appointed commander of the 3rd Pomeranian Infantry Regiment No. 14 in Stettin on April 3, 1866 . Shortly before the start of the German War , he was promoted to colonel on June 8, 1866 . During the war he fought at Gitschin and Königgrätz and was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle III for his work . Excellent with swords.

As a result of a fall from his horse in the Lockstedt camp , Stahr was no longer fit for duty. Then he took on June 14, 1867 Presentation of the Crown Order II. He died on August 16, 1882 in Schweidnitz.
