Alfred Ferdinand Stephan Maria Prinz (since 1908 Prince ) zu Salm-Salm (born March 13, 1846 at Anholt Castle ; † April 20, 1923 there ) was a registrar in the Kingdom of Prussia and a member of the Prussian mansion .

biography

Alfred zu Salm-Salm was a cavalry captain in the Austrian service and after leaving the company he lived at Haus Rhede . After his older brother Leopold zu Salm-Salm died in 1908 without a legitimate heir, Alfred became the seventh Prince of Salm-Salm and took over the extensive family inheritance. With this, Alfred zu Salm-Salm also took over the hereditary seats to which the family was entitled in the Westphalian provincial parliament and in the Prussian mansion . Salm-Salm was a member of the manor house from 1908 until its dissolution in 1918, most recently as the second chairman of the house.

In May 1898 he became the first founder of the Historical Commission for Westphalia .

Alfred zu Salm-Salm came from the Salm-Salm family branch of the Obersalm line of the ancient Salm family . At the age of 23, he married Countess Rosa von Lützow in Vienna on October 18, 1869 (born March 31, 1850 in Hamburg ; † February 5, 1927 at Borohradek Castle in Borohrádek ). This castle came into the Salm-Salm family through the inheritance of the daughter-in-law Maria Anna von und zu Dalberg . The couple Alfred Ferdinand and Rosa had several children:

Franz zu Salm-Salm was the grandfather of the current owner of the House of Loburg and the ancestor of the family branch of today's Salm-Salm from Wallhausen Castle near Bad Kreuznach .
