Allan Turner Howe (born September 6, 1927 in Salt Lake County , Utah , † December 14, 2000 in Arlington , Virginia ) was an American politician . Between 1975 and 1977 he represented the second constituency of the state of Utah in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Allan Howe attended the public schools in his home country and then the University of Utah , where he studied law until 1954, among other things. After being admitted to the bar in 1955, he began working in his new profession in Salt Lake City . He was previously a member of the US Coast Guard from 1946 to 1947. Between 1957 and 1959 he was an assistant district attorney in Salt Lake County.

Politically, Howe was a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1959 and 1964 he worked for US Senator Frank Moss . Howe was the Assistant Attorney General of Utah in 1965 and 1966 . He was then a member of Governor Calvin L. Rampton's advisory board from 1966 to 1968 . From 1968 to 1972 he was a leading member of the Four Corners Regional Development Commission. Between 1954 and 1960 he was a delegate at all Democratic party conventions in Utah. In the meantime he worked as a lawyer in Salt Lake City.

In 1974 Allan Howe was elected to the US House of Representatives, where he replaced Wayne Owens on January 3, 1975 . Two years later he was not re-elected. His mandate went to Republican Dan Marriott . After his tenure in Congress , Allan Howe worked as a lawyer in Washington . He died in Arlington on December 14, 2000.
