David Daniel "Dan" Marriott (born November 2, 1939 in Bingham , Tooele County , Utah ) is an American politician . Between 1977 and 1985 he represented the second constituency of the state of Utah in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Dan Marriott attended Sandy Public Schools . In 1958 he graduated from Jordan High School . He then studied at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City until 1967 . After graduating from college, Marriott became an insurance agent. Between 1968 and 1976 he was the owner of a Utah-based consultancy that, in addition to regular business advice, also took care of pension issues. From 1958 to 1963, Marriott was also a member of the Utah Air National Guard .

Politically, Marriott is a member of the Republican Party , for which he moved into the US House of Representatives after his success in the 1976 congressional election. There he replaced Allan Howe on January 3, 1977 . After he was confirmed in office in the following elections, he could remain in Congress until January 3, 1985 .

In 1984 he no longer ran for re-election. Instead, he ran unsuccessfully for governor of Utah. Today Dan Marriott lives in Salt Lake City.
