Álvaro Pereira , full name Álvaro Daniel Pereira Barragán , (born November 28, 1985 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

society

Depending on the sources, the 1.82 m or 1.85 m tall Pereira started his professional career at Miramar Misiones in 2004 and moved to Argentina for Quilmes AC in 2005 . After Quilmes was relegated, he moved in 2007 for around 200,000 euros to the Argentinos Juniors , where he played 35 games (eleven goals) in one season.

In July 2008 he moved to CFR Cluj for a transfer fee of 2.5 million euros . This makes it the most expensive purchase in the history of the Cluj club to date. On June 4, 2009, FC Porto announced that they had acquired 80% of the transfer rights from Pereira for 4.5 million euros. For Porto, he completed 49 league games in the first two seasons ( 2009/10 and 2010/11 ) and scored one goal. In the 2011/12 season , 23 more games and one more hit were added. In addition, at the end of the 2011/12 season he could look back on 20 Champions League and 13 Europa League appearances for Cluj and Porto.

For the 2012/13 season , Pereira moved to Serie A for Inter Milan for ten million euros . Bonus payments can increase this amount to up to 15 million euros. He signed a four-year contract until June 30, 2016. In his first season with the Milanese, he made 28 Serie A games and scored one goal. He also played in nine Europa League matches . In the 2013/14 season he played five games (no goal) in Serie A. On January 21, 2014, his move to São Paulo FC during the current season was announced. He was loaned to the Brazilian club for 18 months. For the Brazilians he played in 32 league encounters (one goal) (statistics Serie A: 21 games / 0 goals; Paulista A1: 11/1) and played seven games (no goal) in the Copa Sudamericana 2014 . In January 2015 he also switched to the Argentine club Estudiantes de La Plata on loan and was signed in February 2016. There he was used in 24 top division games (two goals), two matches (one goal) of the Copa Argentina and ten games (no goal) of the Copa Libertadores 2015 . On February 1, 2016, the Spanish club Getafe FC announced their commitment as part of a mid-year loan. A purchase option was not agreed. By the end of the season he had played six personally goalless first division games for the Spaniards. At the beginning of July 2016, Estudiantes awarded him again. Since then, the Paraguayan club Cerro Porteño has been his employer. So far (as of July 22, 2017) he played there in 20 first division games (one goal), in ten encounters (two goals) of the Copa Sudamericana 2016 and in one game (no goal) of the Copa Sudamericana 2017 . In July 2017, he extended his contract until the end of 2018.

National team

Pereira was a member of the Uruguayan U-20 team in 2005 , which took part in the 2005 U-20 South American Championship in Colombia .

He made his debut on November 19, 2008 under national coach Óscar Tabárez with a starting eleven in the Stade de France -oriented friendly international match against France in the senior national team of Uruguay . The game ended in a goalless draw.

With the Uruguayan national team, Pereira took part in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa , where Uruguay finished fourth and Pereira was on the field in six out of seven games (one goal). Pereira was also part of the Uruguayan national team, which won the 2011 Copa América in Argentina . The midfielder played five games (two goals) in this tournament. During 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup , he also participated. At the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and at the 2015 Copa América in Chile , he was again part of the Uruguayan squad.

He has played a total of 76 international matches so far, in which he can boast seven personal goals. His last assignment for the time being is on November 17, 2015.
