Career
Indoor volleyball
Fernández started her career in 2002 at Universidad Burgos . In 2004 she moved to CV Albacete and in 2006 to CAV Murcia in 2005 . In her first season in Murcia, the middle blocker won the national championship with the club and the Top Teams Cup with a final victory against VK CSKA Moscow . In the 2007/08 season, the club managed to defend its title in the championship as well as success in the national cup. Fernández then went to Italy, where she was active for one year each at Santeramo Sport and Volley Pavia . With the Spanish national team she took part in the 2009 European Championship in Poland , where Spain reached the second group stage. From 2010 to 2012 Fernández played for the Polish first division club Atom Trefl Sopot . She then returned to Italy and played for the Chieri Volley Club .
beach volleyball
Fernández played in 2012 with Diana Castaño at the CEV Masters in Baden and at the satellite tournament in Vaduz for the first time in the sand. The following year, she actually wanted to end her active career as a professional athlete, but then accepted a request from Ester Ribera Boter . Fernández / Ribera took 17th place at the satellite tournament in Antalya and at the Baden Masters. After a national tournament victory in Ibiza and a 25th place in Montpellier (Satellite), they reached the final in Vaduz. In Stare Jabłonki they played their first Grand Slam on the FIVB World Tour . After finishing ninth in the satellite tournament in Stuttgart , the next Grand Slam in São Paulo and the Xiamen Open followed. In 2015, after the open tournaments in Lucerne and Prague, they completed two tournaments of the WEVZA series (Western European Volleyball Zonal Association) in Barcelona and Senigallia . They also competed at the first European Games in Baku , where they finished ninth. Then they were active in CEV tournaments in Biel / Bienne and Timișoara and were eliminated early in their only Grand Slam of the year in Long Beach . After a 17th place at the Sochi Open, they reached ninth place at the Xiamen Open.
At the same tournament Fernández / Ribera only achieved a double-digit result at the start of the World Tour 2016 , as well as at the next three open tournaments, with 17th place in Antalya being the best result. After the major in Hamburg , they finished third in the satellite tournament in Vilnius . They also played the Grand Slam in Olsztyn and the Klagenfurt Major, before coming back to 17th place in the Grand Slam in Long Beach.
On the World Tour Fernández formed a new duo with Ángela Lobato Herrero , with whom she competed for the first time at the five-star in Fort Lauderdale . Fernández / Lobato achieved 17th place in Xiamen, before things went worse again in Moscow (three stars each). Fernández competed at the five-star tournament in Gstaad with two-time Olympian Elsa Baquerizo Macmillan . She completed the CEV Masters in Alanya again with Lobato (ninth place), the FIVB tournament in Olsztyn, however, again with Baquerizo. Since Lobato was out due to an ankle injury, Baquerizo / Fernández also competed together at the World Cup in Vienna . Here they reached the main round as second in the group, in which they were eliminated against the Americans Hughes / Claes .
