Amphoe Chaloem Phra Kiat ( Thai : อำเภอ เฉลิมพระเกียรติ ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) of Buri Ram Province . The province of Buri Ram is located in the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

Neighboring districts (clockwise from the east): the Amphoe Prakhon Chai , Lahan Sai and Nang Rong - all counties are in the province of Buri Ram.

history

On 5 December 1996, the district Chaloem Phra Kiat in Buri Ram was founded by the Tambon Charoen Suk, Ta Pek and Isan Khet of Amphoe Nang Rong and Tambon Thawon and Yai Yaem Watthana of Amphoe Lahan Sai were merged.

It is one of five counties in Thailand of the same name. All were founded on the same day to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the throne of King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) .

Attractions

  • Prasat Hin Khao Phanom Rung ( ปราสาท หิน พนม รุ้ง ) - huge and very beautiful rock temple from the 12th century on a 400 meter high extinct volcanic cone with a wonderful view of the flat landscape as far as Cambodia; the facility is known as "Angkor Wat's little brother". A temple festival takes place every April.

  • Thawon (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ถาวร )

There are also two " Tambon Administrative Organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO):
