Amphoe Khu Mueang (in Thai : อำเภอ คูเมือง ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in the north of the province of Buri Ram . The province of Buri Ram is located in the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

Neighboring districts (clockwise from the east): Amphoe Khaen Dong , Satuek , Ban Dan , Mueang Buri Ram and Lam Plai Mat in Buri Ram Province, Amphoe Lam Thamenchai and Mueang Yang in Nakhon Ratchasima Province , Amphoe Phutthaisong in turn Buri Ram and Chumphon Buri district in Surin Province .

history

Khu Mueang was initially set up as a subdistrict ( King Amphoe ) on October 1, 1969 , by separating the three tambon Khu Mueang, Tum Yai and Pa Khiap with a total of 58 village communities ( Muban ) from the Amphoe Mueang Buri Ram . On August 21, 1975, it was promoted to Amphoe.

Local administration

There are two municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:

  • Khu Mueang (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล คูเมือง ) consists of parts of the tambon Khu Mueang and Nong Khaman.
  • Hin Lek Fai (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล หินเหล็กไฟ ) consists of parts of the tambon Hin Lek Fai and also parts of Khu Mueang.

There are also seven " Tambon Administrative Organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO):
