Amphoe Lam Thamenchai ( Thai : อำเภอ ลำ ทะ เมน ชัย ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in the province of Nakhon Ratchasima . The province of Nakhon Ratchasima is located in the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

geography

Lam Thamenchai District borders the following counties (from the east clockwise) to the Amphoe Khu Mueang and Lam Plai Mat of Buriram Province , and to the Amphoe Chum Phuang and Mueang Yang in the province of Nakhon Ratchasima.

Lam Thamenchai is named after the Thamenchai River, the county's main river.

history

Lam Thamenchai was initially set up on July 15, 1996 as a "branch circle" ( King Amphoe ) by separating its area from the Chum Phuang district .

On May 15, 2007 the Thai government decided to raise all 81 King Amphoe to simple amphoe status in order to unify the administration. With the publication in the Royal Gazette "Issue 124 chapter 46" on August 24, 2007 this decision officially entered into force.

Local administration

There are five municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:

  • Khui (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ขุย ), consisting of parts of the Tambon Kui.
  • Ban Yang (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บ้าน ยาง ), consisting of the entire tambon Ban Yang.
  • Chong Maeo (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ช่อง แมว ), consisting of the entire Tambon Chong Maeo.
  • Phlai (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ไพล ), consisting of parts of the Tambon Phlai.
  • Nong Bua Wong (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล หนองบัว วง ), consisting of the remaining parts of the Tambon Kui and Phlai.
