Career

André Deveaux began his career as a hockey player with the Belleville Bulls from the Ontario Hockey League , for which he was active for a total of three years from 2000 to 2003. During this time he was selected during the NHL Entry Draft 2002 in the sixth round as a total of 182 players by the Montréal Canadiens , for which he however never played. In the 2002/03 and 2003/04 seasons he ran for the Bulls' league rivals, the Owen Sound Attack . From 2004 to 2007, the center was on the ice for the Springfield Falcons from the American Hockey League , as well as in its last two seasons for their farm team from the ECHL , the Johnstown Chiefs , after becoming a free agent in September 2004 signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning , which organized Springfield and Johnstown.

In February 2007 Deveaux was transferred together with Andy Delmore in exchange for Stephen Baby and Kyle Wanvig to the Atlanta Thrashers , for whose AHL farm team Chicago Wolves he was subsequently accused. With the Wolves he won the Calder Cup in the 2007/08 season . After the season, the Toronto Maple Leafs took him as a free agent under contract, for which he made his debut in the National Hockey League during the 2008-09 season . In his rookie year in the NHL, the right-shooter gave one assist in 21 games. At the same time, he scored 14 goals and 14 assists in a total of 44 games for the AHL farm team of the Maple Leafs, the Toronto Marlies . In the following season he was only used in one game in the NHL, while he scored 41 scorer points, including 16 goals, in 72 games for the Marlies in the AHL.

For the 2010/11 season Deveaux returned to his ex-club Chicago Wolves from the AHL. In the summer of 2011, he signed a one-year contract with the New York Rangers from the NHL, but where in the following season was only used in nine games and spent most of the season with the farm team Connecticut Whale in the AHL. In the 2012/13 season , the right-handed shooter played for the San Antonio Rampage in the AHL, before moving to Europe the following season and joining Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg from the Continental Hockey League .

After Deveaux was initially without a club at the beginning of the 2014/15 season, he was hired in December 2014 at Rögle BK from the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan . In the play-off series against VIK Västerås HK for promotion to Svenska Hockeyligan , there was an incident in March 2015 in which Deveaux attacked the opposing captain Per Helmersson from behind with his stick and knocked him to the ground while both teams were warming up . As no immediate penalty has been imposed on the striker, the incident is now being investigated by the league. Furthermore, Rögle announced due to the events not to extend the contract with him beyond the season and Deveaux publicly apologized for his behavior.
