André Schröder (born April 21, 1969 in Sangerhausen ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He is a member of the State Parliament of Saxony-Anhalt and was Finance Minister in the State Government of Saxony-Anhalt from April 25, 2016 to June 20, 2019 .

Life

André Schröder visited the POS "Ernst Thälmann" in Sangerhausen from 1975 to 1985 and then from 1985 to 1987 the EOS "Geschwister Scholl" in Sangerhausen. Between 1987 and 1990 he did his military service . In November 1990, Schröder began a master’s degree in Leipzig with the first major in philosophy and the second major in political science. In autumn 1995 he completed his Magister Artium . This was followed by a journalistic activity, including for the Mitteldeutsche Zeitung and the Märkische Oderzeitung . He also did internships at the MDR in Leipzig and in the Sangerhausen district administration .

Schröder is married and has two children.

André Schröder was hired in March 1996 as personal assistant to the chairman of the CDU parliamentary group. In October 1996 he joined the CDU. From June 1998 to April 2002 he was press spokesman and until September 2008 a member of the regional planning association.

From 2002 until his departure on September 16, 2008, André Schröder was a member of the State Parliament of Saxony-Anhalt. In the state elections in Saxony-Anhalt on March 20, 2011 , he regained the direct mandate in constituency 31 (33.4%). From April 20, 2011 to March 2016, he was parliamentary group leader of the CDU.

From July 2007 to September 2008 Schröder was a member of the Mansfeld-Südharz district assembly . He was named to the State Media Authority (MSA) by the CDU Saxony-Anhalt. He was chairman of the state committee for regional development and transport as well as chairman of the CDU district association Mansfeld-Südharz. From September 2008 to April 2011, Schröder was State Secretary in the Ministry for Regional Development and Transport of the State of Saxony-Anhalt .

In the state elections in Saxony-Anhalt in 2016 , he lost his direct mandate to the AfD candidate Andreas Gehlmann , but received a mandate above fourth place on the state list.

On April 25, 2016, he was appointed Minister of Finance for the State of Saxony-Anhalt.

On June 20, 2019, Schröder resigned as finance minister after the CDU parliamentary group withdrew his trust.
