Andrei Grigoryevich Kaschetschkin (mostly in the media: Andrei Kashechkin , Russian spelling Андрей Григорьевич Кашечкин, born March 21, 1980 in Qysylorda ) is a former Kazakh cyclist .

Career

Kaschetschkin began his international career in 2001 in the cycling team Domo-Farm Frites of Patrick Lefevere . In 2004 he switched to Crédit Agricole , for which he won the Grand Prix de Fourmies and the Saxony Tour . In his first Tour de France participation in 2005 , Kaschetschkin finished 19th in the overall standings.

In 2006 he moved to the Liberty Seguros team , where his compatriot Alexander Vinokurow drove. In spring he decided the 6th stage at Paris-Nice from Digne-les-Bains to Cannes single-handedly for himself. In June, Kashechkin won the Kazakh championship. After the team , which started as Team Astana in May, was excluded from the Tour de France 2006 as a result of the doping scandal Fuentes , Kaschetschkin started at the Vuelta a España 2006 , where he supported the overall winner Vinokurow and was himself third overall.

After an unannounced doping control on August 1, 2007 in Belek, he tested positive for foreign blood doping. He was immediately suspended from his Astana team. After a positive result of the B-sample, Kaschetschkin was dismissed by his team.

On May 23, 2008, Kaschetschkin was acquitted of suspected doping by the Kazakh cycling association. The UCI appealed this judgment to the CAS, which banned it for two years with effect from July 7, 2007.

From 2010 he started cycling again, initially for the Lampre-ISD team . At the end of 2012 he was suspended by the Astana Pro Team , where he has been driving since mid-2011, because he refused to sign the team's internal anti-doping rules. After he made up for the signature, the team lifted the suspension.

At the end of the 2013 season he ended his career as a professional cyclist.
