Andrij Askoldowytsch Hrywko ( Ukrainian Андрій Аскольдович Гривко , scientific. Transliteration Andrij Hryvko , in the media and official statements usually after the French transcription. Andriy Grivko * 7. August 1983 in Simferopol , Ukrainian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Ukrainian cyclist .

Athletic career

In 2004, Hrywko won the U23 stage races Giro delle Regioni and Giro della Toscana . The following year he joined an international cycling team for the first time , the Italian team Domina Vacanze . His greatest international success to date came in 2008 at the Firenze – Pistoia time trial . In 2016, he won a stage and the overall ranking of the Mediterranean cruise .

By 2016, Hrywko was five times Ukrainian champion in the individual time trial and in 2012 in road racing . Once he started in the Tour de France ; his best placement was 43rd in 2012 . In 2008 and 2012 he took part in the Olympic Games. In 2008 he was 31st in the time trial and in 2012 he was 17th in the road race. Four years later, at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , he was 18th in the time trial and 45th in the road race.

On the third stage of the Dubai Tour at the beginning of February 2017, Hrywko hit the German Marcel Kittel in the face with his elbow, so that he suffered a laceration on the left eyebrow. He was then disqualified by the jury. The UCI Disciplinary Commission therefore suspended Grivko in April 2017 for 45 days from May 1st.

After Hrywko had not received a new contract with Team Astana at the end of the 2018 season , he joined the Ukrainian UCI Continental Team Lviv Cycling Team in May 2019 .

Commitment as a functionary

In July 2018, Hryvko was elected Vice President of the Ukrainian Cycling Federation, and since August 20, 2019 he has been the President of the National Federation.
