Andy Martin (born August 10, 1960 in Provo , Utah ) is an American jazz and studio musician ( trombone ).

Live and act

Martin comes from a musical family; his father played the trumpet . As a teenager he formed the band Martin Brothers with his brothers . He attended Golden West College, where he took lessons from Tom Kubis, and then studied at California State University, Long Beach . He started his professional career in a Dixieland band in Disneyland. From the 1980s he worked in Los Angeles as a studio and jazz musician; first recordings were made with the LA Boppers , the big band of Matt Catingub and with Dick Berk . During this time he also played in the bands of Charlie Shoemake , Les Brown , Tom Talbert and Vic Lewis , and in the following decade with Bill Perkins , Horace Silver , Jack Sheldon , Buddy Charles , Bill Elliott , Frank Capp , Bill Holman , Buddy Childers and Louie Bellson . In 1995 he made his debut album Leading Off (Resurgent), on which u. a. Eric Marienthal and John Patitucci contributed. Since the 2000s he worked a. a. with Gary Urwin , Gordon Goodwin , Tom Kubis, Wayne Bergeron , Keely Smith , Henry Mancini , Bill Cunliffe , Seth MacFarlane and Bobby Shew . After Tom Lord , he was involved in 214 recording sessions between 1982 and 2014.

Martin has worked on numerous soundtracks in the Hollywood studios, including the score for Family Guy , American Dad , King of the Hill and Mission: Impossible III . As lead trombonist, he played in the studio band of Dancing with the Stars and American Idol . He was also active as a theater musician and on recordings a. a. for Pussycat Dolls , Coldplay and Michael Bublé .
