Anna Alexandrovna Lapuschtschenkowa ( Russian Анна Александровна Лапущенкова ; born October 24, 1986 in Moscow ) is a former Russian tennis player .

Career

In October 2002, shortly before her sixteenth birthday, Lapushchenko played her first ITF tournament. From 2005 she won a total of eleven singles and one double title at ITF tournaments. In May 2010 she achieved her best placement in the WTA world rankings with position 93 .

Even if she always had to struggle to qualify for the main draw of a WTA tournament, she was able to beat several top 100 players in smaller tournaments and in qualifying rounds.

2010

At the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix 2010 in Stuttgart, Lapuschtschenkowa managed to jump into the main field through qualification. In the second round, she beat the world number nine Wiktoryja Asaranka 6: 3 and 6: 3, her first victory over a top ten player. In the quarterfinals she defeated the 38th in the world rankings, Lucie Šafářová , 7: 6 1 , 1: 6 and 6: 1. She then lost the semifinals to Samantha Stosur, despite a 5-2 lead in the first set and a break in the second set 5: 7, 3: 6. Nevertheless, she made a leap into the top 100 in the world rankings.

At the French Open , she failed in the first round of qualification. At Wimbledon she was qualified for the first time directly for the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament . She lost her first round encounter against Zwetana Pironkowa with 0: 6 and 6: 7 7 .

Lapushchenko won her last title in August 2010 at an ITF tournament in Kazan . She played her last match on the women's tour on October 18, 2010 at the WTA tournament in Moscow , where she failed in the first round of qualification. Since October 2011 it is no longer included in the rankings.
