Apfelbach is a district of the city of Bad Mergentheim in the Main-Tauber district in northeast Baden-Württemberg , around 40 km southwest of Würzburg and 50 km northeast of Heilbronn .

Apfelbach lies at 265 m above sea level. NN am Lochbach , a left tributary of the Tauber , to which the often dry Apfelbach flows in the local area from the left . The place has 358 inhabitants and an area of 910.5 ha. This also includes the farmstead State Domain Apfelhof and the abandoned village of Hof.
history

Apfelbach was first mentioned in 1096 as Abfelbach . From 1414 the place belonged to the Teutonic Order .
Modern times
In 1809, Apfelbach came to the Kingdom of Württemberg and there to the Mergentheim District Office . Apfelbach has belonged to the Mergentheim district since 1938.
On January 1, 1972, Apfelbach was incorporated into Bad Mergentheim together with Althausen , Löffelstelzen , Markelsheim and Neunkirchen . As in the context of on 1 January 1973 Württemberg Baden-district reform the county Mergentheim was disbanded, Apple Bach belonged subsequently to the newly formed Tauber district , which its present name on 1 January 1974 Main-Tauber-Kreis received.
Attractions
The Catholic parish church of St. Gumpert and St. Kunibert , built in 1757, is located in Apfelbach .
