Dainbach is a district of Bad Mergentheim in the Main-Tauber district in northeast Baden-Württemberg . It is the only former Baden district of Bad Mergentheim.

geography

Dainbach's municipal area covers about 7.276 km².

history

The place, a settlement from Franconian times, was first mentioned in a document around 1100. In the course of the early modern period, the place increasingly came under the influence of the Electoral Palatinate and was under the Office of Boxberg. With this, the village was pledged to the Würzburg monastery from 1691 to 1740 and to the Teutonic Order from 1732 to 1803 . After brief membership of the Principality of Leiningen (1806-1806), Dainbach fell to the Grand Duchy of Baden as part of the mediatization process .

On December 1, 1972, Dainbach was incorporated into the city of Bad Mergentheim. In contrast to all other Bad Mergentheimer districts, which belonged to the former Württemberg district Mergentheim , Dainbach was previously assigned to the former Baden district Tauberbischofsheim . When the two Altkreise on 1 January 1973 as part of the Baden-Württemberg district reform were dissolved, was thus Dainbach in the sequel to the newly formed Tauber district , which its present name on 1 January 1974 Main-Tauber-Kreis received.
