The Arrondissement Basse-Terre is an administrative unit of the French department of Guadeloupe . The main town (seat of the prefecture ) is Basse-Terre .
Until the French cantons were reorganized in 2015, it consisted of 17 cantons and 18 municipalities . Since 2015, ten cantons have been distributed among the communes.
